St Mary’s and St Luke’s News for 10 July 2022

The Weekly Sheet has this week’s Readings and News on it

Anne Norman

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the death of Anne Norman, please remember her family in your prayers at this time. Anne’s funeral is on Monday 1 August, 1:45pm, at St Mary’s and then the Crematorium. Revd Mike.

Junior Church Summer Challenge

Last Sunday was the final Junior Church of this school year and they set themselves a challenge for the summer – a Gratitude Scavenger Hunt. Whether you were at Junior Church last Sunday or not you are encouraged to do it. Junior Church will be back in September!

They would wish to challenge the congregation (yes you!) to join in and scavenge for the 8 points of gratitude on the list.

What a fantastic idea – happy scavenging.

Paul’s Leaving Lunch

Paul’s Leaving Lunch Sunday 24 July around 12:30pm – All welcome: Sandwich platters and other various food items are being ordered in; we are asking, if you are able to, for contributions towards the lunch. Either by supplying food, helping set up or clear up, or a financial donation. Please sign up on the list in the porch or online at bit.ly/paulslunch

…and his final Sunday with us

Legal formalities now complete, Rev Paul has been appointed as the new Incumbent of parishes of St Peter’s Leighton cum Minshull Vernon and St Leonard’s Warmingham. Paul’s last Sunday will be 24 July. Our prayers and best wishes are with Paul, Jan, Lois & William at this time. If you’d like to donate towards a leaving gift for Paul either give a cash donation to the Wardens or a bank transfer to the church account with the ref “Paul”.

St Paul’s Pantry Update

St Paul’s Pantry has provided 164 people with crisis food parcels which represents 80 households. Long life food items are still the main priority, current shortages of tinned meat, tinned vegetables, tinned puddings, UHT milk, cereal, jam, cooking sauces, rice, and pasta. Thank you for all your donations as we are still currently struggling to keep up with demand.

Congratulations to Revd Jayne!

Congratulations to Revd Jayne Manfredi who was ordained as Deacon at Chester Cathedral on Sunday 3 July. If you missed the service you can watch it here: bit.ly/JaynesOrdination
