St Mary’s and St Luke’s News for Sunday 7 August 2022

The Weekly Sheet has this week’s Readings and News on it

A Thank You from Rev Paul

Wow, what a send off. THANK YOU.

I just wanted to say a great big thank you, on behalf of the whole family, for the wonderful send off you gave us on Sunday. The service was brilliant and I think I will introduce a warden bringing me a brew half way through every service; what a great idea! My final interview was a pure joy! I have watched it a few times now and laugh out loud every time. The time together with a delicious buffet was fantastic. Thank you for the extremely generous gifts that you have given to our family. We are very grateful.

I want to thank all at St Mary’s and St Luke’s for your kind and caring support over my ministry as your curate. The three years certainly flew by and were full of a great deal of unplanned challenges. You really have helped me to learn and grow over my time with you. Thank you. I want to thank the wardens and Mike for putting up with my crazy ideas and helping me to understand the inner workings of a parish. I am sure that will be put to good use here.It is difficult to sum up in a few words all I want to say, but St Paul does in Philippians Chapter 1. I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:3-6. Thank you, God Bless, Paul.

Ladies Afternoon Group

Sea, sun, ice cream, the big wheel, the pier, the Orme were just a few things enjoyed by LAG during their trip to Llandudno last month. Thank goodness the temperatures were not quite as hot as the previous two days! It was great to see everyone and we look forward to seeing you all in September for our next ‘get together’, Ann and Frances.

Long life food items are still the main priority, current shortages of tinned meat, tinned vegetables, tinned puddings, UHT milk, cereal, jam, cooking sauces, rice, and pasta.
