Our Annual Service of Commemoration Sunday 6 November at 6pm

Our annual Service of Commemoration at St Mary’s is on Sunday 6 November at 6pm. Invites are being sent to those who we’ve conducted funerals for over the past three years; however, the service is open to anyone who would like to remember those whom they love but see no longer, no booking required, just come. In the service there is the opportunity for your loved one’s name to be read out in an Act of Commemoration. It is easier, and preferred, if names are received in advance: names can be submitted here: bit.ly/addnames2022 or there are slips in the porch. Please hand any slips personally to Revd Mike.

Annual Shoebox Appeal

To view the latest video from Teams4U please click here: https://youtu.be/xJOBa55gnEA

This year we are partnering with Teams4U, based in Wrexham, to donate Christmas Shoeboxes to deprived children in Romania, Belarus, Bosnia, Moldova and Georgia. Teams4U have nearly 20 years experience in delivering Shoeboxes and other assistance to many eastern European countries, including recently to Ukraine.

We will be accepting Shoeboxes in church from Sunday 6 November until Wednesday 16 November. There are leaflets in the porch, flatpack boxes will be available soon (£1 donation) and you can donate a Shoebox online if this is easier for you. For each Shoebox you make please give £3 to help towards transportation, we would prefer this is done online, the guide below or the leaflets explain how. To find out how to create a Shoebox and what to put in it please go here: teams4u.com/shoebox-guide/

St Mary’s Heating

After nearly 50 years of service the heating boiler at St Mary’s can’t be repaired. We have temporary heating in place as it may take a while to replace the heating. We are required to explore alternatives to fossil fuels & renewable energy sources. Please dress warmly until this is resolved.

Wells Green Methodist Church Cafe

Wells Green Methodist Cafe is open every Friday morning, 10am to 12noon for a cuppa and chat.  It is run by volunteers, who provide a friendly welcome.

Foodbank Update & Harvest Thanks

In September we have seen the highest number of people referred since January, an increase of 61% compared to August. We are very grateful for the continued support , to those who have donated food or given monetary gifts. A specific thank you for organising Harvest collections. Please continue to help us with longlife food items to see us through the Winter months.

The Past Cases Review 2 Report is now Published

This was completed just before the pandemic hit and the report has been published this week. You can access the report, Diocesan Summary and hear the Bishops’ response to it on the Diocesan website: bit.ly/pcr2report
