John & Bert’s Funerals

We continue to mourn the death of two longstanding members of our congregation: Bert Spencer and John Roberts. We give thanks for their lives, their friendship and the memories they leave with us. Please keep their families in your prayers.
John’s funeral is on Monday 28 November, 12 noon at St Mary’s.
Bert’s funeral is on Monday 5 December, 1pm at St Mary’s.


Advent Study Group

Revd Mike is planning to run an Advent Study Group on Mondays 28 November, 5, 12 & 19 December. 7:30pm-9pm at the Rectory. Please let Mike know if you’re interested. revd.mike@stmaryswistaston.org.uk – 01270 665742

Toy Service at St Mary’s on 4 December

The Salvation Army would like new unwrapped toys and gifts for ages 0 to 16. All toys and gifts will be given to local families in need this Christmas. Please bring toys to church on 4 December.


Ladies Afternoon Tea

A reminder that Afternoon Tea starts at 1.00 pm on Sunday following on from the morning service and tea and coffee.  


A fantastic afternoon at the Cake Decorating event

Many thanks to Elaine Turner, and all who helped to run the Christmas Cake Decorating afternoon, £380.50 was raised towards the new heating system and a lovely afternoon was had by all.


Advent Lunch

Advent Lunch in the Church Hall – Wednesday 7th December 11.30am onwards, There will be a warming Stew. All Welcome and proceeds to St Mary`s Church fund s £4.50 per person. 


Rose Queen Event

Emily our Rose Queen plans to have a cake and craft stall following Junior Church on Sunday, 4th December. Please come and support. 


Free books in the Choir Vestry!

We have books in the Choir Vestry of all different types, Bibles, Theology Books, general Christian titles and reference books. We’d like them to be all be gone by January. Please take what you would like and can use, we don’t want them back! Any books left in January will be given to good homes.


Christmas produce, jams and pickles 

On sale over coffee on 4 December in the Church Hall
Mike and Chris Horne again will be selling their wonderful Preserves, Pickles and Christmas puddings and Hyacinths pots (Pots available from the 12 December). Look out for the order forms up at Church and in the Church Hall or contact them directly on 07756575835 or at email torritone@btinternet.com


St Mary’s Cleaning

Many thanks from all of us to those who currently clean St Mary’s each week (and St Luke’s!). At St Mary’s we are looking to expand the rota and are looking for volunteers – please add your name to the rota in the porch or email Mike on revd.mike@stmaryswistaston.org.uk


LAG Carol Service – Our Carol service is on Thursday 15th December at 2pm in St Mary’s followed by tea/ coffee and biscuits in the church hall. Looking forward to seeing you all. More details to follow


St Mary’s Heating – we have an installation date!

We have now had permission to replace the boiler and have an installation date of 15-17th December.  Please dress warmly until resolved. Revd Mike & the Wardens.


Wells Green Methodist Church Cafe

Open every Friday, 10.30am to 1.30pm, for refreshments, soup and a roll (donations).  Run by friendly volunteers – come along for a chat and hot soup to keep warm.


Foodbank Update & Harvest Thanks

Please continue to help us with long-life food items to see us through the Winter months.
