St Mary’s and St Luke’s News & Information for 23 April 2023 – Easter 3

The Weekly Sheet has this week’s Readings and News on it

Edith Ridgway

The funeral of Edith Ridgway will take place at St Luke’s on Friday 28 April at 2pm. Edith was one the original members of the congregation when St Luke’s opened in 1965. Edith was an Honorary Freewoman of Willaston and the Parish Council, as a mark or respect, will put up large lamppost poppies on Coppice Road recognising that she was a Poppy Appeal collector for over 65 years.

The Coronation of King Charles

We hope you have picked up one of the booklets with prayers and reflections leading up to the day of King Charles’ Coronation on 6 May, if not pick one up from either church.
On Sunday 7 May we will have services of celebration to commemorate the Coronation at both of our churches, and at St Mary’s we will have cake with the refreshments. The PCC decided that we should encourage people to celebrate locally in the afternoon, to join with neighbours or bigger events in the local area. One such celebration will be at Queens Park, Coronation Picnic in the Park, 2pm to 6pm, however, look out for ‘local to you’ events that may be taking place.

You can also get the Prayers and Reflections from the booklet in to your inbox by signing up here.

The Bible Study group

The Tuesday Bible study group will meet on 2nd and 16th May at 10.15am.

The monthly Prayer group on Thursday 4th May at 7pm. Both groups meet at 56 Bowness Rd. All welcome. Thank you, Jenny V.

We are meeting for our Spring Lunch on April 27th at 12noon at the Tea Lounge Nantwich FC for those who have booked. Looking for to seeing you, Frances.

The Annual Parochial Church Meeting 2023

The Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) is on Sunday 21 May 2023 at  12 noon in St Mary’s Church followed by a Bring and Share in the Church Hall. The meeting is open to anyone on the church’s Electoral Roll. At the APCM we will be electing 2 Church Wardens, 5 Members to the PCC and 4 Deanery Synod Members. Ahead of the APCM, there is a Revision of the Electoral Roll from 16 to 30 April, as this is only a revision, if you are already on the church’s Electoral Roll, there is no need to reapply. All the details and the relevant forms for the Electoral Roll, Church Warden or PCC nomination are available at both churches and can be found bit.ly/apcminfo
