Kath Jones
It is with great sadness that I inform you of the death of Kath Jones. Kath was a Warden at St Mary’s for many years and also the leader of the Ladies Afternoon Group. We were informed of her death by her niece and that her funeral had already taken place. May she rest in peace and rise in glory. Revd Mike.
Ladies Afternoon Group News
Our next meeting is this Thursday 27th February at 2pm – we will have a talk on the History of Crewe Hall with Graham Dodd. Please also can we ask that the deposit of £20 is paid towards our Summer Trip in the next few weeks. Also, a date for your diary, this year’s Lent Service at St Mary’s will be on Thursday 27thMarch. Lent 2025
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, 5 March, when we will have two Communion services at St Mary’s, 10am & 7pm, there will also be the opportunity to receive Ashes. During Lent we will be running a Lent Group which invites you on a Virtual Pilgrimage, a journey about faith, devotion, and spiritual growth as we follow Jesus’ footprints via some famous pilgrimage sites all without leaving our seats! We will meet Tuesdays 7:30pm at The Rectory beginning 11 March & Fridays 10am at St Luke’s beginning 14 March, both will run for 5 weeks. The Tuesday and Friday sessions are the same, so you need only attend one. All material supplied, please bring a Bible.
Lent Lunches
Chris & Mike Horne will be doing two Lent Lunches on 5 March & 2 April at 11.30am in the Church Hall. There will be a variety of Soups at £4.50 pp. All welcome!
Electoral Roll 2025
A new Church Electoral Roll is being prepared, every person who wishes to have his or her name entered on the new Roll, whether it is entered on the present Roll or not, is requested to apply for enrolment not later than 16 March 2025. Our Electoral Roll Officers are Sue & Bob Squirrell, please ask them for assistance if needed. New Electoral Roll forms are available in church and via our website at bit.ly/apcminfo.
Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) 2025
Our APCM this year is on Sunday 6 April in St Mary’s at 12 noon followed by a Bring ‘n’ Share lunch in the Church Hall. More details to follow nearer the time.

The exploratory work has been completed we await the report.
Motherwell Period Poverty Collection Point
You may have seen this in the porch of the Church Hall, in it you can donate period products as well as other young girl’s and women’s hygiene products. Thanks in advance.
Christian Aid Sponsored Swim
Christian Aid Sponsored Swim is on 15 March at 5pm at the Crewe Lifestyle Centre. Sarah Turnbull has a sponsor form if you wish to support our young people.
Are you interested in Scouting History?
If so, Wistaston Scout Centre, Elm Close, Wistaston, Crewe CW2 8RU, are holding a ‘Journey of Scouting History from 1907 to more recent times’, all as presented by the South West Cheshire District history team on the weekend of 15/16 March. Doors open at 10am each day, closing at 1700 on Saturday and 1600 on Sunday. Admission free, refreshments available, donations welcome.
