St Mary’s and St Luke’s News & Information for 30 June 2024 – Trinity 5

The Weekly Sheet has the weekly Readings and News on it

Chris is Sworn in as Warden by Archdeacon Jane

Congratulations to Chris Horne who was sworn in as our Warden at the Archdeacon’s Visitation. As our only warden this year she will need our help and support to carry out the Office of Warden.

Looking forward to seeing you all on 11th July for our trip. I have booked good weather!!!!! The coach will leave from St Mary’s Church Hall promptly at 9.30 am. Any monies still to be paid need to be given to Pam or myself beforehand. Many thanks, Frances.

Opportunities to get involved at St Mary’s

We would like a couple of people to take on the role of setting up the Altar for Holy Communion and change the frontal etc when needs be. Also, we would like a few of people to cover the 12:30pm Baptisms by welcoming people and controlling the slides on the screen during the service. If you would like to know about either of these roles please speak in the first instance to Revd Mike.

Summer Events in the local community

Saturday 6 July, 12pm-7pm, Willaston Garden Party, Lettie Spencer Playing field
Saturday 17 August – Flower and Produce Show
Saturday 7 September – Annual Duck Race

Christian Aid Update

The final total for the Crewe Churches for this year’s Christian Aid Week is a fantastic £4,566, this means that the total raised from the three fundraising activities done this year was £10,000. Would you like to help make sure this fantastic fundraising continues? Why not consider taking over from Sarah Turnbull as our Christian Aid Rep. For more info please see Sarah.

Save the Date!!

Saturday 13 July 10am-12 noon. Shed clearing and cleaning at St Luke’s Church. We need some help to empty the shed, clean it, sort what is to be kept or recycled, and then put the items we’re keeping back in. If you can help, please sigh up on the sheet at both churches.

Bible Reading or leading the Intercessions at St Mary’s

For those who Read at St Mary’s, if it’s easier for you, please use the Lectern at the Chancel Steps. If climbing the steps to the Main Lectern has stopped you from putting your name on the Reading Rota, then using the Chancel Lectern may help you to join the rota.
If you would like to add your name to the Rota, you can do it in church or email Revd Mike (you can view the Rota and see what slots are available here). However, if you are not sure about whether you should do it, or have concerns about doing it, please speak to Rachael or Mike who are happy to help.
