Congratulations to the newly Confirmed

Congratulations to those who were Confirmed last Sunday at the service conducted by Bp Willie. Those Confirmed were: Hilary Davies, Sophie Davies, Bri Findlay, David Hands, Steve Keay, Yvie Nulty & Charlotte Shaw. 

Many thanks to all those who helped prepare for the service and helped on the day, it was such a lovely service.


Austin Grand

It’s with great sadness that I inform you of the death of Austin Grand. Austin, and his wife Doris (who died in 2020), were long-standing members of St Mary’s and only stopped coming when, through ill health, they were no longer able to leave their home. Austin’s funeral is at St Mary’s on Tuesday 1 August at 1:45pm. Please keep the family on your prayers at this time. Revd Mike.


Women’s Indian Meal

After church refreshments at St Mary’s

During August those who make and serve the refreshments in the church hall are taking a break. For the four Sundays of August there won’t be refreshments in the church hall after the service. However, on Sunday 20 August, Sarah & Mike would like to invite you to the Rectory, weather permitting, for a bring your own picnic, more details nearer the time. If you would like to join the refreshment team please sign up via the list in the hall or email office@stmaryswistaston.org.uk


Rachael Rivers

Rachael, who was on a Reader Placement with us in April/May, will be joining us permanently in September as she completes her final year of Reader Training. We look forward to her joining us and welcoming her.



Archdeacon lan Bishop’s leaving service

After 22 years’ service in the Diocese of Chester and 12 years as Archdeacon of Macclesfield lan Bishop is leaving to become Bishop of Thetford, please come along and say farewell. The service will take place at St Bartholomew’s, Wilmslow on Sunday 23 July beginning at 5 pm. Anyone wishing to attend is asked to please book a place here bit.ly/ticketsib


The Bible Study group

The Tuesday Bible study group and Prayer groups will now take a break and will meet again in September, dates to be advised. Thank you, Jenny V.
